The Naples Art Association Faculty Biennial 2016 Exhibit

This biennial exhibit will highlight the work of the Naples Art Association’s talented faculty instructors. NAA instructors have a wealth of experience, knowledge, and abilities in the visual arts and in educating people of all ages and skill levels and it shows in their work.  This exhibit is free-of-charge and open to the public and will be located in the Watson Gallery, Lobby, and Ground Floor Round Galleries.

The Naples Players Presents: Rocky Horror Picture Show

This rocking musical is a humorous tribute to the cheesy science fiction and horror B movie genre. The story follows the innocent and newly-engaged Brad and Janet as they get caught in a storm and find themselves at the mansion of Dr. Frank N Furter who is anything but innocent. 22nd Annual Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award

Recognizes small businesses that have overcome adversity to achieve success.

The Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award program is open to any for-profit company that meets the following criteria: has been in continuous operation under the same ownership for at least three years with principal office located in Lee, Collier, or Charlotte County; employs 5 to 400 people; has overcome adversity to achieve success.

Registration for the event is on November 3, 2016 from 11-11:30 a.m.

Red Snook Catch and Release Charity Tournament
November 4-6 8am-6pm
Southwest Florida anglers are invited to participate in Conservancy of Southwest Florida’s annual RedSnook Catch and Release Charity Tournament Nov. 4-6. The three-day fundraising event will feature a kick-off party, two full days of fishing and an awards reception, all while raising awareness of the need for clean waterways and water quality’s influence on the Southwest Florida ecosystem. Proceeds will benefit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida’s juvenile game fish studies, water quality research and game estuary protection. Humane Society Naples Fashion Show & Lunch

Join Co-Chairs Philip Douglas and Doug Olsen at The Ritz-Carlton Naples for The Humane Society Naples‘ 18th annual Fashion Show & Luncheon on Friday, November 4. This year’s Rock n’ Roll themed event will feature an unforgettable afternoon of furry fun, fashion, fine food and refreshments benefitting the orphaned pets awaiting their forever homes at The Humane Society Naples. The event will include a silent auction filled with must-have items for you and your pet as well as a live giving opportunity to fund the needs of the shelter and/or clinic.

Book Talks- Short Story Collections
1-2:30pm

Join our small class interpretation of these concise stories by well-known authors (i.e. Kipling, Hemingway, D.H. Lawrence, Margaret Atwood) to name a few.  We read two ‘shorts’ every other week and discuss in class. It is fun and casual, and we use an egg timer for discussions. In addition, we meet for brown bag lunch at noon prior to class.

Senior Expo

The Leadership Coalition On Aging Collier County will host their 4th annual Conference on Aging on Friday, November 4. The Coalition’s first Senior Expo, free and open to the general public, will follow the conference from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Senior Expo will follow the Conference on Aging to provide the general public with resources for healthy living and sustainable aging. Guests will have opportunities to meet the professionals and service providers attending the conference, in addition to complimentary health screenings, senior resources and raffles. The Expo is open to all ages and is free to attend.

Brian Mackay- Lyons Lecture

AIA Southwest Florida Chapter presents Brian Mackay-Lyons, of Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects, the second guest speaker in a three part series of the Fall Season. Brian Mackay-Lyons is an International Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects His work has been recognized in Canada and internationally with 115 awards, 7 mongraphs and 100 exhibitions. Most recently his Mirror Lake House was an AR Record House in 2016. We invite you to join us for drinks and conversation at 6:30 before the lecture beginning at 7:30.

Collier Heart Walk

Join more than 4,500 men, women, and children at Cambier Park on Saturday, November 5 for the annual Collier Heart Walk, which helps raise awareness and funds to fight America’s #1 and #5 killers – heart disease and stroke.

Festivities begin at 8 a.m., with the three-mile walk beginning at 9 a.m. Free and open to all age groups with no registration fee, this annual, non-competitive walk is also pet-friendly and includes heart-healthy sandwiches for humans and treats and water stations for four-legged walkers.

Florida Panther Festival at Naples Zoo

Join the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens on Saturday, November 5 for the Florida Panther Festival, a family-friendly event celebrating local wildlife, including the endangered Florida panther. Along with regular zoo activities including seeing a living Florida panther, guests can enjoy outdoor exhibits by area conservation partners, fun activities for kids, guided nature walks on the Gordon River Greenway, and practical talks about living with wildlife presented by experts.

Admission is free for Collier residents (bring a driver’s license with a Collier County address or other proof of residency).
