We’re starting a new series! It’s called Nearby Naples and will cover destinations within an hour or two drive from the city. These will include shopping centers, tourist attractions, wildlife, beaches, restaurants, and more.
Our first Nearby Naples location is Coconut Point. This shopping destination opened in 2005 in Estero. It is about a 30 minute drive from Naples and is definitely worth visiting. It is an outdoor mall similar to Waterside Shops and Mercato. The mall features over 140 shops including restaurants, a movie theater, Barnes and Noble, an Apple Store, and condominiums. Coconut Point was one of the first construction projects in the area to feature living arrangements atop commercial spaces. These condominiums were popular, as the mall becomes almost like a mini city. Mercato soon followed suit with the same residential and commercial concept.
You just drove to Coconut Point and the first thing most of us want to do is eat! There are so many restaurants to choose from. We will list a few but check their website to see a complete list. There is a California Pizza Kitchen, Blue Water Bistro, Chuey’s Tacos, Amore Brick Oven Pizza, Five Guys, Johnny Rockets, and more. Aside from these major restaurants there are snack and dessert shops like Marble Slab Creamery, Grace and Shellie’s Cupcakes, and Starbucks. No matter who you traveled with, you are sure to find a restaurant that fits everyone’s tastes.
With over 140 stores, it’s a good idea to spend a few hours browsing, but you should also check their website to see which stores you know you want to hit. There is something for everyone here. Clothing, electronics, tea, haircuts, jewelry, cosmetics, toy stores, accessories, and more. Some of the big stores include Victoria’s Secret, White House Black Market, West Elm, Talbots, Lucky Brand Jeans, Guess, and more. There are tons of services including jewelry and watch repair, hair cuts, a nail salon, and others.
Coconut Point wouldn’t be complete without a Farmers Market! It’s from 9am-2pm every Thursday. It only occurs during season which is from October to May.
After you’ve got your shopping fix taken care of, you will want to head towards the pond with the fountain near the wooden bridge (you’ll see what I mean once you get there). There are usually two large swans that reside there. It’s rare to see swans in Florida so it’s worth taking some time to see if they are in the pond.
